Is my child old enough to take the class?

  • The Lego Robotics classes are designed for students in grades 2-8. To be successful in the class, your child should be able to build a medium to difficult Lego by following the instructions and with no assistance.

  • The Arduino and JavaScript classes are designed for students in grades 6-12. It is open to all levels of experience; a real interest in learning engineering and computer programming is what really matters for success in the class.

Can I sign up for more than one class?

Yes, the curriculum is very flexible and the material for continuing students will not repeat.

How long is each session?

  • Summer: Each session is one week long,  Monday to Friday from 9:00am - 2:00pm each day. 

  • Lego Robotics After School: Each session is 12 weeks long and they meet once per week for 2 hours per meeting, from 4-6pm. There is an option to take either the first or last 6 sessions only.

  • Arduino and JavaScript: Each session is 12 weeks long and meets once per week for 90 minutes each session, from 7-8:30pm.

Is extended care available?

Summer Only: There is an option to attend the Mathnasium programming from 2-4pm after the BK Bots class. Contact info@bkbots.com for more information.

  • Summer: The Mathnasium of Park Slope, located at 361 5th Ave, Brooklyn, 11215. 

  • Lego Robotics: Park Slope Puppetworks, located at 338 6th Ave, Brooklyn 11215

Is food provided?

Summer Only: Food and water will be provided for lunch, but students with any type of dietary restrictions or strict preferences should bring their own lunch and snack.

Do they get to keep the robots at the end of class?

Unfortunately not. Each kit costs $350 so this is not possible. You can purchase the kit here.

Will this make my child smarter than me?

Possibly. We are currently in beta testing so that result is not guaranteed.

Will this prepare my child for the inevitable robot apocalypse?

Yes. You and your family will be safe and live as equals with the robot overlords.
